Note to the administrators: I put this here since it deals with the general subject of pictures. If, however, you decide it really belongs elsewhere, please move it. All I can say is that I put this here in good faith.

It's getting very disturbing how AI pictures are approaching real photos in quality. At this point, with some inspection, you can likely tell the difference. But give AI technology another few years and that may be one hell of a lot more difficult. And I'd say in another 10 years--maybe (a whole lot) sooner!--it'll be close to impossible. On the one hand, that could mean porn to order: you could specify all the attributes, scene, clothing, etc. and you could get a set of pictures that would meet all of those specifications spot on. And that's going to start to crowd out real pictures, I'm afraid. On the other hand, I suspect there will still be an undefinable quality about photography of real models--kind of that subtle but definitely there quality that sets analog music reproduction apart from digital music reproduction--that will keep two tiers of models in business (that is, high end elite models and low end anything-for-a-buck skanks).

I'd be interested to see what others think.

 

AI is getting better, as can be seen in many of the pictures posted here and online. For now it’s fairly easy to tell the difference between AI and real, at least it is for me. That’s going to change.

That's both frightening and depressing. When the day comes, as it likely will, that it's impossible to tell the difference with the unaided eye, then the game is over. Pictures will no longer be captured by camera but assembled to order as if they were cars taking parts out of the bin.
